Going to the chiropractor with young children
That adults go to the chiropractor (usually due to pain in the back or neck) has long been known. The fact that chiropractic care is supportive for a variety of complaints is unfortunately less well known. It feels like our mission to provide information about this and generate awareness. In fact, there are so many complaints and pathologies that benefit from a regular visit to the chiropractor!
Today we are going to talk about the symptoms that are often found in children, and what the chiropractor can do for your child.
Taking your child to see the chiropractor
These days it is the most normal thing in the world to talk about your little one’s ear infection or intestinal problems. Soof has an ear infection and Bas is suffering from constipation. Rick has eczema, and Anne doesn’t sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch. We hear it so often that it is dismissed as normal; those kids have to get through it. It will get better on its own, or we’ll put an antibiotic in it. After several cures, still an ear infection? Tubes!
By this we are not saying that antibiotics or surgery is always preventable. We do say with this; go see the chiropractor first. Have your little one’s spine checked for subluxations (or blockages). Chances are that after correcting subluxations, your child’s body will have more ability to heal itself.
Want to know more about this? Doctor Travis Cocoran explains what chiropractic care can do for an ear infection, for example.
Sickness is part of it
The presence of subluxations is not in itself the reason for infection or disease. Having subluxations does mean less ability to heal. We all come into contact with a large amount of viruses and bacteria on a daily basis. Especially our children are still strengthening the immune system, so they are especially susceptible. So the fact that they get sick is insurmountable. But we can support them, by making sure the spine is free of subluxations; for a faster and more complete recovery.
The chiropractor supports, but does not cure
Healing is something your body does itself. Going to the chiropractor regularly is in support of your health, as are healthy eating/regular exercise/sufficient sleep and avoiding toxins. Provide the right balance to create an optimal environment for healing.
