Chiropractic care for persistent dizziness symptoms

Do you suffer from dizziness symptoms that just won’t go away? Care from the chiropractor can provide relief! We explain how chiropractic care can help you if you have had dizziness and/or vertigo for a long time.

What is dizziness?

Dizziness can come in two forms. First of all, you may suffer from vertigo. With this type of dizziness, you feel as if everything around you is spinning. This form of dizziness is often accompanied by nausea.

In addition, you may experience dizziness where you feel particularly “light-headed. Both forms can be well taken care of with chiropractic care.

Dizziness can have several causes. The most common causes will be named below.

The balance organ

The balance organ is located in the ear. This organ ensures that we know the position of our body in relation to the world. That way we can stay in balance. Disruptions of this organ can cause dizziness symptoms. A disturbance of this balance organ can come from low blood pressure or low blood sugar. Inflammation, intense exercise or lack of oxygen can also be a possible cause of symptoms.

Stress or anxiety

Dizziness symptoms can also be caused by stress or anxiety. Stress or anxiety causes the brain to process an enormous amount of information, causing it to become overloaded. This can result in dizziness. In addition, hyperventilation is a common complaint due to stress or anxiety. In hyperventilation, you breathe faster and deeper than usual. This allows you to take in more oxygen and exhale more carbon. This creates an imbalance in your blood and this can cause dizziness.

Medication

A medication is used primarily to eliminate symptoms. Unfortunately, many medications do not work only at the site of the ailment. This causes side effects of the drug. One of the side effects a medication can have is dizziness. (Your chiropractor will never recommend medication!)

Concussion

A concussion is another wording for mild traumatic brain injury. Due to a hard blow to your head from an accident or fall, for example, your brain may have suffered minor damage.

The brain is immensely important to our body and is therefore well protected. The main protector of the brain is the skull. Between the brain and the skull is a fluid. This prevents the brain from colliding with the skull. A hard blow to the head may still cause the brain to touch the skull. This contact causes damage to the brain.

This damage may cause symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, confusion, fatigue, headaches, memory loss and temporary loss of consciousness. The brain needs time to recover, so it is quite normal for symptoms to persist for several days to weeks after the blow to your head. In some cases, the symptoms persist even longer.

What should I do if dizziness persists?

With persistent dizziness, it is first important not to take any risks. Get plenty of rest and do not engage in situations that could be dangerous when you are disoriented. Think of crowded places, driving and such things.

We recommend contacting a health care provider such as a chiropractor early on. The sooner you are with us, the sooner we can intervene and the lesser the consequences are often.

Chiropractic care for persistent dizziness

We naturally start by excluding certain things. If we suspect that we are not the right person for your symptoms, we will refer you to other health care providers.

The chiropractor’s care will begin with an intake interview, which will determine your type of dizziness and discuss its possible causes. The chiropractor’s care depends on the type of symptoms and their cause.

Through dosed impulses, the chiropractor will try to eliminate the communication between the nervous system and the muscles and joints of the affected area. In this way, your symptoms will diminish.
