Enjoying your Winter sports to the fullest with Chiropractic care

As chiropractors, we are known as connoisseurs of the body and anatomy par excellence.

For this reason, many winter sports enthusiasts find our practice every year. We help recover from injuries and complaints that have occurred during winter sports.

This ranges from rehabilitating after surgery to caring for back problems. Back pain in particular is a major source of discomfort after winter sports. The hits on the slopes combined with the unusual posture and relatively heavy treatment can cause complications in back. You can think of entrapment, muscle injuries and subluxations.

All these complaints receive our full care and we are happy to assist our clients in this regard.
As health advocates, however, we want more. After all, in our view, prevention is always better than cure. For this reason, we assist individuals even before they leave for their snow destination. With a thorough checkup and possible advice or care, much suffering can be prevented.

So it is always possible to get in touch with us even before your winter sports to be optimally prepared for your trip. In addition to this intensive check-up, we also offer a range of advice and areas of concern to ensure that you enjoy optimum health even during your winter sports.

Unexpectedly, Precisely that third day is dangerous!

We begin with a probably unexpected statistic. Most accidents happen on the third day of skiing or boarding. So not on the first day, when everything is getting used again. as you might expect.

Just on the third day, there is a communication of increased confidence and at the same time fatigue occurring. That fatigue causes less accurate responses to unexpected situations. And so then a fall, collision or twisting occurs more quickly.

So pay close attention to whether you shouldn’t build in some extra rest on day three!

The Third Day in the Snow

On day three of winter sports, most accidents happen. Causes are fatigue and overexertion

Good preparation, against injury

Right, but even beyond the third day there are many injuries. You can also take measures for this. These begin with proper preparation even before you leave.

Building fitness, strength and balance. Because winter sports require a lot of strength from the legs and core, they deserve extra attention. Doing knee bends and squats or an extra walk will help your legs get stronger.

By doing exercises for your back and abdominal muscles, you also help your core gain stability. Consider situps, for example.

Cycling always helps build strength, too!

Remember the Warming Up, even in winter sports

As with any sport, warming up is important in winter sports. This one is very often forgotten. As a result, damage to tires, for example, occurs. This damage reduces strength and control and thus can cause additional accidents as a result. So even with this; a good warm up is important.

Make sure you walk at least a little bit before getting on the slats. You can also use some stretching exercises to prepare your joints for exercise.

Similarly, you also benefit from cooling down after that day’s winter sports.

On the slopes themselves, injury prevention

Needless to say, good material is of great importance. This means not only shoes and skis of the right size and good quality. But also breathable enough warm clothing.

Definitely gloves!

Take adequate rest and build up your vacation. That means that you don’t immediately on the first day, seek all the risks. Slowly get back ionto it can be very wise.

Take plenty of breaks in between so you can recharge physically and mentally. When doing so, drink plenty of water, because unnoticed, a lot of water can evaporate in the sun and thin air.

When you get all the snowy fun over with, we will be there, of course. That means you can come to us for minor corrections or extra quick repairs.

You can also rehabilitate with us for major injuries.

For this, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
