Are you pregnant and struggling with a hernia? When you visit at one of our practices, our chiropractors will paint as complete a picture of your situation as possible. An important part of this is determining the cause of your hernia.
There are several complaints that can arise from the c1 cervical vertebra. For example, a blockage may occur when the vertebra is rotated too far to the right or left and does not rotate back properly after this.
A nerve becomes pinched when it is compressed by other structures in the body. One of the best-known causes of a pinched nerve is a herniated disc. A herniated disc has everything to do with intervertebral discs.
The upper back and neck are supposed to be slightly curved, but in the case of kyphosis, there is a more severe curvature and it can be easily seen as a kind of kink in the back or neck. Also, the head and shoulders are often more forward.
Some people are born with a spinal deformity. While others develop it later, usually still in childhood. Curvature of the back can come in three forms: scoliosis, hyperkyphosis and hyperlordosis.
With scoliosis, as mentioned, there is a lateral curvature of the back. This can be caused roughly by two things, either incorrect posture or an overgrowth.
Curvature of the hip can be caused by several factors, including injury, osteoarthritis, improper posture and movement, muscle or joint disorders and pregnancy. Another cause may be pelvic misalignment.
With a herniated disc, there is an entrapment of a nerve. This happens through an intervertebral disc. An intervertebral disc is a flexible disc that sits between the vertebrae.
With cervical stenosis, the space between the vertebrae in the neck becomes smaller. This can cause the nerves that run here to become compressed, which in turn can cause a variety of symptoms.
Our upper cervical vertebra is the only vertebra in the spine without an intervertebral disc. This is because the vertebra must allow a large rotational movement of the head. Because C1 does not have an intervertebral disc, it is also more likely to shift.
